Hand-selected woods ensure period-precise tone, including a 2-piece alder body, quartersawn maple neck, and a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard. The 1963 soft “C” neck profile accompanies 21 frets across a 9.5-inch radius, accommodating a variety of playstyles with comfort. Hand-wound ’64 pickups bring the tone to life at any volume, thanks to the vintage wiring and Tone-Saver bleed circuitry. Vintage-style hardware adorns this axe, with a custom shop synchronized tremolo for some serious expression. Tones straight out of time Fender’s Custom Shop luthiers never fail to do their homework, and the ’64 sounds like an axe straight out of time. Hand-selected alder comprises a 2-piece body, known for its physical resilience and resistance to warping. Tonally, alder is rich in sustain, providing a loud, warm overall sound, tending toward the low end with slicing mids and sturdy bass. The quartersawn maple neck imparts great projection and note-separation, with bright, clear mids and highs, alongside simple overtones in a tight bass. Round-laminated rosewood colors the fingerboard with luscious loudness and a crystalline veneer. This triumvirate of tonewoods delivers a distinctive, historically accurate sonic profile, full through every register with tremendous articulation.
